So I would say that Bayo 2 is objectively better. One my favorite level in the entire series is the flashback level during the Umbra Witch Trail and Ceraza fight along side with her mother. Arrrgh!!!!).īayonetta 2 runs much smoother, have more weapon variety that are fun to experiment with, have less annoying Alfheim stages, and most importantly, I just think the levels are flat out better.
The first game while great in it's own right suffers from a worst frame rate, QTE instant deaths, and extremely annoying Alfheim stages at times.(Don't touch the ground. I enjoyed the second one more than the first one. I've played both on Wii u for the first time. It has a greater personal connection for Bayonetta as Additionally I feel the 2nd game's narrative was a bit stronger. It still takes a great deal of skill to get those platinum trophies however. In that regard I think Bayonetta 2's combat loop is a bit tighter and more rewarding as a result. At times in Bayonetta I felt like I didn't even have enough of a chance to dodge. I know some may decry it, but I actually think I prefer that Bayonetta 2 is a bit more lenient. As noted above I do think Bayonetta 2 is a bit more lenient with the timing for Witch time. It's utterly insane but I loved every minute of it. There was something special about seeing Rodin show up in a Santa suit and drive up a building with Enzo, and seeing Bayonetta quite literally kick a jet. While the first's overall tone and atmosphere was relatively dark? The second was colorful and vibrant. I do think I prefer the art direction more than the first.
I do think the first is a good deal harder than Bayonetta 2.īayonetta 2 being the sequel was one of the best looking games on WiiU despite the hardware. Even normal difficulty I have found puts up a significant challenge. The window/timing for successfully executing witch time is pretty narrow. Most notable though is just how difficult the first can be. Despite being nonsensical however I did find Bayonetta 1's story to be enjoyable. Bayonetta 1's story is relatively nonsensical but it does have some interesting lore that can be learned. However where Bayonetta is successful is in it's fast paced action and combat mechanics. As the title suggests, let's compare the two and see if we have a consensus on which one is the best.īayonetta 1 obviously is an older title and may not have the level of polish that the 2nd has when it comes to visuals.
